My Personal Philosophy of Education
Mr. Benon Fred TWINAMASIKO
Without Education, Society as we know it would cease to exist. Formal education is what has made our country and other industrialized nations great. Thus, as an educator, I anticipate the opportunity to assist in the molding of future generations by imparting essential knowledge.
The famous philosopher and educator, John Dewey, once said, "Education is the process of living through a continuous reconstruction of experience. It is the development of all those capacities in the individual which will enable him to control his environment and fulfill his possibilities."
Identifying with Dewey's pragmatist philosophy, I believe that children are ultimately shaped by their environmental experiences and must be taught how to use their knowledge as responsible, productive citizens. The educational process must begin with and emphasize the interests of the students, while focusing on their growth in all aspects of their beings.
As a facilitating instructor, I plan to construct an eclectic blending of a student-centered learning process.
